Make Personalized Placemats With Kids

This is a great family craft because everyone can do it. Small children will have fun with it because often they are learning how to set the table, how to help out at mealtime. Everybody has their own chair at the dinner table (or the kitchen table in most houses...). Children can make placemats for the whole family, designing them with some of the materials to look similar in design so that they match each other.

For this project you will need:

• white vinyl placemats

• clear contact paper

• scissors

• stick-on alphabet letters (can be found at most office supply stores)

• magazines such as Family Circle, Good Housekeeping that will show families and mealtimes.

• also magazines like National Geographic that have beautiful pictures of animals and nature.

• white 8 " x 11" paper to draw on

• markers or crayons

• glue sticks

Most children will be very pleased with the idea of creating a placemat with their name on it. Let them pick out the letters or draw their name on a piece of paper. Depending on the size of the placemat, letters should be about 2" tall.

Give your child the magazines to look through and find pictures of foods they like or just scenes they like. A child who loves animals may be happiest with a placemat covered with animal pictures. Another child may like nature scenes like the ocean or the mountains. Another idea is to use copies of family photos. You can also have your child draw pictures to put on their placemat.

Cut out the pictures (assist if needed). Arrange pictures on placemat first without glue, seeing where you like them best. Once your child likes the placement of the pictures, put them on the placemat using your gluestick.

Allow the placemat to dry for several hours. Then cover the placemat with clear contact paper. Measure the contact paper so that it is just slightly smaller than the placemat, by about 1/4" on each side. This will help it stay in place.

These placemats will now clean off with any damp sponge and you can use gentle dish detergent on them if needed. Its dinnertime!

Customer Review: Flat out amazing

The book "One Fish Two Fish" written by Dr.Suess is very good. There is not a lot of text in it, but it does teach kids about colors, and rhyme. It also has a message about accepting everybody as different.



This book would be suggested for ages 2-100 because I'm twelve and I am still in love with this book. I bet everybody alive has read a Dr. Suess book. They are classics and just flat out amazing.



You can get One Fish Two Fish in pop up version and hardback but I have never seen it in paperback. I think that you should get it. You can buy it at any of your local bookstores or you can just buy it on this website for $8.99. It is well worth the price.

Customer Review: Not for everyone

I have a special needs child that continually bites his left hand. We have suspicions regarding neurological issues that fuel this compulsion. We tried this as a way to curb his hand biting in an effort to not have to resort to more drastic measures. It detered him for maybe 30 minutes ~ but that 30 minutes was filled with a HUGE meltdown after the initial taste was first discovered. While trying to restrain my son during this meltdown, I must have wiped my arm against my mouth and the taste is NASTY. I couldn't get the taste out of my mouth for at least 10 hours and that is after multiple teeth brushing and mouthwashings with Listerine. My son has SUCH a compulsion he happened to develop an aquired taste for it within an hour so it didn't happen to work for us, but we have Extreme extenuating circumsances.

Customer Review: A very fun Sonic title

This is my first game for my NDS, and I am very impressed with everything. Graphics are bright and detailed, and the music is incredibly upbeat and catchy! I would love to own the soundtrack! As far as difficulty goes, it is not as difficult as Sonic games for other systems, especially the bosses. However, just because it is not as hard does not mean that it's not as fun! Also, this is the first game where I've been able to play as Blaze the Cat. While she is not as fast, it's still fun to play as her. I think the music is a different version when she plays too (Blazzy mix?). I recommend this game to those looking for some good portable Sonic fun!

There's an extra coat of hot wax on Pixar's vibrant, NASCAR-influenced comedy about a world populated entirely by cars. Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) is the slick rookie taking the Piston Cup series by storm when the last race of the season (the film's high-octane opening) ends in a three-way tie. On the way to the tie-breaker race in California, Lightning loses his way off Route 66 in the Southwest desert and is taught to stop and smell the roses by the forgotten citizens of Radiator Springs. It's odd to have such a slim story from the whizzes of Pixar, and the film pales a bit from their other films (though can that be a fair comparison?). Nonetheless, Cars is another gleaming ride with Pixar founder John Lasseter, who's directing for the first time since Toy Story 2. There's the usual spectrum of excellent characters teamed with appropriate voice talent, loads of smooth humor for kids and parents alike, knockout visuals, and a colorful array of sidekicks, including a scene-stealing baby blue forklift named Guido. Lightning's plight is changed with the help of former big-city lawyer Sally Carrera (Pixar veteran Bonnie Hunt), the town's patriarch Doc Hudson (Paul Newman), and kooky tow truck Mater (Larry the Cable Guy). The Incredibles was the first Pixar film to break the 100-minute barrier, but had enough story not to suffer; Cars, at 116 minutes (including some must-see end credit footage), is not as fortunate, plus it never pierces the heart. Trivia fans should have bonanza with the frame-by-frame DVD function; the movie is stuffed with in-jokes, some appearing only for an instant. Ages 5 and up. --Doug Thomas

Actually I had DVD version before I bought this Blue Ray version

My son is crazy about this movie, so I add my collection by buying this Blu Ray "Cars"

And then,..... Just shock with the pictures quality, stunning.....wonderfull. Very very reccomend to have this !!!!

Story is nice too, teach us a good thing, watch the attitude shifting of McQueen, it is good for our Boy and Girl.....
